Blanca's House Welcomes Frank McCoy

 Blanca's House

I am the owner of Advanced S.P.O.R.T.S. Physical Therapy in East Setauket.   I have been a therapist for 17 years on Long Island.  I received my PT degree from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.  I opened the doors to Advanced S.P.O.R.T.S in January, 2004.

At Advanced S.P.O.R.T.S we believe in creating an environment where the patients and my staff develop a relationship to achieve a common goal: success.  My emphasis is on communication.  From the moment a patient walks through our door, I explain what is expected, find out what their goals are and how we are going to get there together as a team.  I let them know it may not always be easy, but together, we will get there.  During the course of someone’s therapy, a family is created.  A bond between therapist,  patient, and other patients attending the facility.  It is truly an amazing thing to witness when the veteran patients reach out a hand to console and inspire the newer patients to push forward and succeed…you will reach your goal and it will be worth it. My facility is truly special.  As soon as you enter, you can feel this is the place I need to be….I will get better here.  It is very hard to describe with words how the patients and staff feel this energy.  Once you become a patient of mine, we have created a bond forever.  You are always welcome back for advice, questions, or just to say hello.

A few quotes that are important to me:

  • “Pain is temporary. Glory lasts forever.”
  • “Strength does not come from physical capacity, it comes from indomitable will.”
  • “It is not about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and how much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.”  - Rocky Balboa

My experience with Blanca’s House has truly been life-changing.  The collaboration of healthcare practitioners who came together for this Nicaraguan trip are all very special people.  Each, in their own way, contributed to a team of outstanding precedence.  I am so impressed.  Giving up time from our loved ones at home to do a mission like this is not easy, but it made me appreciate what I have even more than ever before.

The people of Nicaragua were all so, so thankful for our services.  It was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced in my life.  The Nicaraguan people do not have any reservations about expressing their emotions.  Even though a lot of what we do as a therapist involves inducing pain, the patients were all so appreciative and always wanted to do more.  The patients would watch each other and be motivated to do more than the next.  The progress with these patients in three days was amazing.  They each were an inspiration to me.
